Eastern region wins gold medal in women cricket

Sunsari, December 27th 2016 : The eastern region clinched gold medal in women’s cricket under the 7th National Sports.

In the final that ended controversially today, the eastern region defeated Armed Police Force team.

Dispute ensued between the two teams when the APF team was yet to face eight balls in the match at DVM Stadium of Itahari.
The dispute was on whether fielder of the eastern region team, Apsara Begum, prevented the APF strike making four runs.

The referee’s decision against the claim of APF made the Eastern Region victorious.
Meanwhile, Susmita Tamang of APF secured gold medal in the Women Chhangchhawan Ushu Competition held at Covered Hall of Dharan-13, Amarhat.
Tamang outshone Juni Syangbo lama to become the top scorer.

Similarly, towards Men Chhangchawang Ushu Championship, Bijaya Thapa of Nepal Army won the gold medal while Kumar Sinjali Magar of central region received silver and Krija Ale Magar of APF won bronze.

In men’s Thawachi Chhwan All Round, Hari Prasad Gole obtained gold medal while Pasang Sherpa of the eastern region won silver and APF’s Bibek Shrestha bronze. Towards female, Sabita Rai and Karuna Maharjan of Nepal Army clinched gold and silver, respectively and Samjha Chaudhary of far-western region got bronze.

Similarly, the Tribhuvan Army Club ascended to semi-final after goal less draw with APF Departmental Team in the football tournament played at ANFA Technical Sports Ground on Tuesday.
